LIMA, Ohio — The Lima community is mourning the tragic loss of Joseph Foust IV, a 33-year-old resident whose life was cut short following a motorcycle crash in Allen County on Tuesday morning. His passing has left family, friends, and loved ones grieving a sudden and heartbreaking loss while reflecting on the memories he leaves behind.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 5:39 a.m. on North West Street in American Township, near the entrance to the Allen-Oakwood Correctional Institution. Authorities reported that the crash involved a Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Joseph Foust IV and a Cadillac CTS driven by 55-year-old Tamara Hall of Elida.

Preliminary findings from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lima Post indicate that Hall was traveling southbound when she attempted to make a left turn into the correctional facility. Investigators stated that the vehicle allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way while making the turn. At the same time, Joseph was traveling northbound on his motorcycle when the collision occurred. The impact resulted in severe injuries that required immediate emergency medical attention.

First responders quickly arrived at the scene and provided aid before Joseph was transported to Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. Despite the efforts of medical professionals to save his life, he later succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash. Authorities also reported that Hall suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Several agencies responded to assist at the scene, including the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Lima Police Department, Lima Fire Department, American Township Fire Department, and Kenny’s Towing & Recovery. Their coordinated efforts helped secure the area, investigate the collision, and provide emergency care to those involved.
